Woodworking

Cutting Boards

All of these boards were custom orders.

A selection of boards made for sale:

Banana Stands

The cherry wood for the banana stands was from a tree on my neighbor’s property that went down in Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  I had originally cut the tree up into sections for firewood.  I milled up a single log on the bandsaw and made some of these the following year.

Small Boxes

These are commonly referred to as bandsaw boxes.  They are pretty fun to make and the possibilities are endless  with the shapes/sizes.  The Internet is full of them!

The oak boxes are actually more wood from my neighbor.  He’s a farmer and had a bunch of rough cut 4x4s on hand for various purposes.  He gave me one and asked me to rip him a piece to act as a chain guard for his combine and said I could keep the rest so I put it to good use.

Picture Frame

I made these for paintings Melissa did.

Wine Displays

Wine Gift Box

Solid pine construction, box joints and a sliding lid.  Pine planer shavings as packing material.

Magnetic Bottle Opener

These are really cool.  There are 2 strong neodymium magnets on the back at the top to hold the opener to your fridge and there are 3 magnets inserted in a hole drilled close to the surface from the back to catch your bottle caps after you open the bottle.

Puzzles and Games

Peg Solitaire, which most people know as “Oh, that Cracker Barrel game.”  The object is to jump adjacent pegs one at a time and end up with just one left at the end.  These are made with walnut and cherry hardwoods.

Block and Tackle and Ox Yoke puzzles.  They are solved differently, but the object is the same which is to get both beads next to each other on the string.

Jacob’s Ladder which is a classic folk toy.  No batteries required.  It’s amazing seeing the look on kids’ faces when we demo this at a show.

Curvy Picture Holders

A small selection of the picture holders I’ve made.  The long ones are typically 22-24″ long and the short ones are 10″.  We’ve been given a lot of different ideas for using these such as displaying Holiday cards, playing cards, business cards or, as pictured below, bookmarks :).

Bookmarks

These are thin strips of various hardwoods with a tassel made from scratch by Melissa.  Pictured below is cherry, maple, walnut and purpleheart.
